Namaste....

Today I wanted to drink something authentic and remembered this sesame seeds juice that I used to drink when I was a kid. I immediately phoned my mum and got the recipe for this simple, nutritious and delicious drink.

Sesame seeds are rich in vitamin E and antioxidants which helps to keep hair and skin moisturised and healthy. It is one of my favourite ingredients in the kitchen because of its multiple uses. A number of my recipes include sesame in it. I will post all those recipes in due course.

Ingredients:

4 tbsp sesame seeds

1/2 cup coconut fresh or desiccated

1 cup milk

3-4 cardamom pods

1/2 cup water

Jaggery/sugar/golden syrup as per taste

Method:

- Soak the sesame seeds in water for 2-3 hours

- Add cardamom seeds, sesame seeds along with water, coconut in a mixer jar and blend it until smooth

- Strain the mixture using a muslin cloth or a strainer, add jaggery & milk. And it is ready to serve.

Notes:

- This drink tastes best when chilled or even at room temperature.

- I used cold milk so I did not keep this in fridge.

- You can also add a couple of ice cubes before serving

- Can skip adding milk if you are a vegan, Alternatively you can use water or coconut milk

- I do not recommend storing it in fridge more than a day as the coconut used in it will change the taste of the drink quickly.

Cheers!
